Pakistan and France Reaffirm Diplomatic and Economic Cooperation

On April 10, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar engaged in a significant phone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot. The dialogue centered on regional developments and the enhancement of bilateral ties between Pakistan and France.

Minister Barrot extended congratulations to Pakistan for its pivotal role in securing an initial ceasefire agreement. He expressed France’s support for Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region.

Both ministers expressed serious concerns over the continued ceasefire violations in Lebanon, emphasizing the necessity for full implementation and respect for the ceasefire agreement.

The conversation also highlighted the mutual commitment to strengthening economic and trade cooperation, with both sides agreeing to maintain close contact to further these objectives.

Additionally, Minister Dar conversed with the Netherlands’ Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, reaffirming the robust Pakistan-Netherlands relationship and their shared dedication to expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
