Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant diplomatic tour from May 15 to May 20, 2026, visiting the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Italy, and the United Arab Emirates. The agenda is expected to prioritize trade, security cooperation, and addressing the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia.

In the Netherlands, Modi will aim to enhance cooperation in trade and the green economy. A major breakthrough in semiconductor collaboration is anticipated following discussions in Eindhoven. Modi will meet Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, marking their first in-person engagement.

The visit to Sweden will review trade, innovation, and technology partnerships. Sweden, having hosted the first India-Nordic Summit in 2018, will again be central to discussions at the third summit in Norway. This summit will include leaders from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland.

In Italy, discussions will focus on strengthening ties in trade and security, with particular attention to the upcoming India-EU free trade agreement. Modi’s stopover in the UAE will address bilateral relations and energy supplies, with a meeting planned with President Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan.

The visit underscores India’s strategic outreach to enhance energy security and trade partnerships amid global disruptions. The outcomes of these meetings are expected to bolster India’s geopolitical influence and economic ties.
