Pakistan-China MoUs: Pakistan and China have solidified their economic partnership by signing over 300 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and more than three dozen joint venture agreements in the past two years. These agreements, valued at over $13 billion, were confirmed by Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, during a recent meeting.
Speaking to a 70-member Chinese delegation at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Ambassador Hashmi emphasized the creation of a comprehensive mechanism to ensure the effective implementation of these MoUs. He noted that Pakistan’s conversion rate from MoUs to formal contracts has reached approximately 30%.
A notable agreement was signed between the KCCI and China’s IBI Group, a prominent industrial internet and digital trade platform, aimed at fostering digital economy and industrial development.
Furthermore, Ambassador Hashmi revealed ongoing discussions with CATL, one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers, to explore cooperation and investment opportunities. These developments underscore the strategic importance of Pakistan-China relations in the region.
