The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intensified its investigation into the alleged NEET-UG paper leak by conducting thorough searches at Renukai Chemistry Classes in Latur, Maharashtra, on May 17, 2026. The operation commenced in the Shivnagar locality and extended late into the evening.
CBI officials questioned the institute’s founder, Shivraj Motegaonkar, for eight hours on May 15, 2026, at his residence. The investigation suggests that some local doctors may have acquired the leaked examination paper.
The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) was administered on May 3, 2026, across 551 cities in India and 14 overseas centers, with nearly 23 lakh candidates registered. Following reports of malpractice received on May 7, 2026, the National Testing Agency escalated the issue to central agencies.
The ongoing probe has led to multiple arrests, including Pune-based Biology lecturer Manisha Gurunath Mandhare, part of the National Testing Agency’s paper-setting committee. The investigation continues as the CBI remains stationed in Latur, focusing on uncovering further details.
