The MoU was signed with Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield Asset Management and Arodhan Health City to develop the Navi Mumbai International MediCity, also known as NMIMC.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the agreement, describing the project as a major step toward building a global healthcare ecosystem in the state.
The proposed project will be spread across 250 acres in Navi Mumbai and is expected to generate around 10,000 jobs.
Navi Mumbai MediCity To Focus On Healthcare And Research
Navi Mumbai MediCity is expected to combine advanced patient care, medical research, training and healthcare innovation under one integrated ecosystem.
Officials said the project would be developed according to global standards and would bring together clinical services, medical education and research facilities.
The Cleveland Clinic, based in Ohio in the United States, will serve as the anchor healthcare partner for the project.
The development is being positioned as one of India’s major international healthcare collaborations, with the aim of strengthening Maharashtra’s role in the medical and healthcare technology sectors.

The participation of Cleveland Clinic is expected to bring international expertise in patient care, hospital systems and medical research.
Brookfield Asset Management’s role adds a major investment and infrastructure element to the project, while Arodhan Health City is part of the healthcare development partnership.
The MoU is still an initial agreement, and further details on timelines, approvals, construction phases and operational structure are expected to emerge later.
$1.2 Billion Project Expected To Create Jobs
The Navi Mumbai MediCity project is expected to involve an investment of about $1.2 billion.
According to state officials, the project could create around 10,000 jobs across healthcare, administration, research, education, infrastructure and support services.
The development is also expected to attract doctors, researchers, healthcare professionals and medical technology experts.
If completed as planned, the project could support both direct healthcare employment and wider economic activity in Navi Mumbai.
Medical Education And AI Healthcare Planned
The proposed MediCity will not be limited to hospital care.
Officials said it will also focus on medical education, training, artificial intelligence, genomics and advanced clinical research.

The Maharashtra government has presented the project as part of its wider plan to position the state as a global healthcare and medical innovation destination.
The Navi Mumbai MediCity is expected to support India’s healthcare infrastructure while also attracting international medical expertise and investment.
The project also aligns with India’s wider efforts to expand medical tourism, strengthen specialised healthcare services and build research driven medical institutions.
For Navi Mumbai, the project could add another major infrastructure and services hub alongside ongoing urban and connectivity development in the region.
Navi Mumbai MediCity Could Boost Healthcare Investment
The MoU marks an important step for the Navi Mumbai MediCity, but the project’s final impact will depend on execution, regulatory approvals and long term investment follow through.
If developed successfully, it could become a major centre for patient care, medical education, healthcare technology and research.
For Maharashtra, the agreement strengthens its pitch as a destination for global healthcare investment.
For India, the project could add capacity in advanced medical services and support the country’s ambition to become a stronger healthcare and innovation hub.
