In a targeted operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat district, three militants associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and local police. The late-night raid, conducted near Bhutani Canal in the Sarai Naurang area, followed intelligence reports of militant activity. The operation involved a 25-minute firefight, resulting in the recovery of four hand grenades, Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition, and two mobile phones from the site.

The militants were reportedly wanted for multiple attacks on law enforcement personnel in the region. This action comes amid heightened security efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militant incidents have surged since the TTP ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022. Local authorities, supported by peace committees, have intensified efforts to curb such threats, with recent operations also targeting militant hideouts and recovering significant weaponry.

The operation reflects ongoing efforts to maintain security in a region that has faced persistent challenges from militant groups. Authorities continue to monitor the area to prevent further incidents and ensure public safety.
