Aurangzeb Reaffirms Government’s Pledge to Inclusive, Consultative Policy-Making

On July 9, 2025, Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, met with a delegation from the Pakistan Business Council (PBC) in Islamabad to discuss the government’s approach to economic policymaking. The meeting, attended by outgoing PBC CEO Ehsan Malik and incoming CEO Javed Kureishi, focused on fostering a cooperative relationship with the business community to drive sustainable economic growth.

Aurangzeb emphasized the government’s dedication to engaging stakeholders through a transparent and inclusive process. He highlighted that the federal budget for 2025–26 was developed with early consultations to incorporate feedback from businesses and industries, ensuring policies reflect practical insights. This approach aims to strengthen economic stability and address challenges faced by the private sector, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), which contribute significantly to Pakistan’s GDP and employment.

The minister also acknowledged the PBC’s leadership transition, expressing confidence in the incoming team’s ability to collaborate on policies that support economic reforms. Recent posts on X reflect public interest in this commitment, with users noting the government’s focus on stakeholder engagement as a positive step toward economic progress.

Aurangzeb’s remarks align with ongoing efforts to modernize fiscal policies, including reforms in taxation and resource allocation, to create a balanced economic environment. The government’s emphasis on evidence-based policymaking is seen as a move to build trust and encourage investment in Pakistan’s economy.
