The Indian women’s hockey team concluded their four-match women’s hockey series against Australia with a 2-3 defeat in Perth on May 30, 2026, resulting in a 2-2 series draw.
India began the match with a strong start, as Navneet Kaur scored from a penalty corner in the second minute, setting an early pace against the hosts.
Deepika Soreng extended India’s lead in the 23rd minute, making it 2-0 at halftime. However, Australia responded in the third quarter with goals from Abby Wilson and Olivia Downes.
The decisive moment came in the 58th minute when Courtney Schonell scored, giving Australia a narrow victory and leveling the series.
Despite the loss, India exhibited resilience and tactical discipline throughout the series, which serves as preparation for the upcoming FIH Nations Cup in New Zealand from June 15-21.
The series also acts as a precursor to the Women’s World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands in August and offers a chance for India to qualify for the 2026-27 FIH Pro League.
