An IndiGo website booking disruption left several users unable to purchase tickets on Friday, with the platform displaying a “no data available” message whenever customers searched for flights. It was the second such disruption to affect the airline within a single week, raising fresh questions about the stability of its booking infrastructure.

The exact cause of the outage was not immediately clear, and IndiGo did not respond right away to a request for comment. Users attempting to search for flights in multiple cities were unable to complete bookings through the website, while some also reported being unable to log in through the mobile application.

IndiGo Online Booking Issue Follows Wednesday’s Outage

The latest IndiGo online booking issue came just two days after the airline first acknowledged trouble with its systems. On Wednesday, IndiGo said on social media that it was experiencing intermittent issues with its core reservation platform, warning that some customers might find it difficult to access online services. The airline said at the time that it was working with a technology partner to resolve the problem, though it offered no further detail on the nature of the fault or an expected timeline for a fix.

By Friday, it appeared the underlying issue had not been fully resolved. An advisory posted on the IndiGo website informed customers requiring urgent travel assistance to contact the airline’s call centre directly. The company said its teams, together with its partner, were treating the matter as a priority.

Scale of Disruption Given IndiGo’s Market Position

As India’s largest airline, IndiGo held roughly 67 percent of the country’s domestic aviation market in July, meaning any disruption to its digital systems has the potential to affect a considerable number of travellers. Complaints continued to appear on the airline’s social media account throughout Friday, with customers reporting failed bookings, problems completing web check-in and unresolved payment confirmations.

The disruption also comes at a sensitive time for the carrier’s leadership. Willie Walsh took over as IndiGo’s chief executive less than a month ago, succeeding Pieter Elbers, and now faces early scrutiny over the reliability of the airline’s customer-facing technology.

What Remains Unclear

As of Friday, IndiGo had not issued a detailed explanation for either disruption, nor confirmed whether the two incidents were connected to the same underlying fault. The airline has said only that work is continuing with its partner to restore normal service, leaving passengers uncertain about when booking and check-in functions will return to full reliability.
