Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian Pakistan visit is scheduled for today, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, as Tehran and Islamabad seek to strengthen bilateral cooperation and discuss regional diplomatic developments.
Pezeshkian is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including ministers and senior Iranian officials, according to the Foreign Office.
During the visit, the Iranian president is expected to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar are also expected to call on him.
Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian Pakistan Visit Comes After Islamabad MoU
The Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian Pakistan visit comes days after the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States, a diplomatic process in which Pakistan has played a facilitative role.
The Foreign Office said the visit would allow both sides to discuss ongoing diplomatic engagements following the Islamabad MoU, as well as regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Shehbaz travelled to Switzerland for high-level talks on implementing the Islamabad MoU, with delegations from Iran, Qatar and the United States also participating. Pakistan’s Foreign Office said Islamabad would continue supporting the implementation of understandings reached between Tehran and Washington.
Pakistan Iran Relations On The Agenda
The talks in Islamabad are expected to cover the full spectrum of Pakistan Iran relations, including trade, energy, border security, people-to-people exchanges and regional connectivity.
The Foreign Office described the visit as a reflection of the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to deepen historic and cultural ties while advancing peace, stability and sustainable progress in the region.
This will be Pezeshkian’s second visit to Pakistan as president of Iran. His arrival comes at a time when Islamabad is seeking to maintain a visible diplomatic role in regional de-escalation, particularly after recent US-Iran engagement and wider Middle East tensions.
For Pakistan, the visit offers an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with a neighbouring state on security, economic and connectivity issues. For Iran, it signals continued engagement with Islamabad as Tehran navigates negotiations linked to the Islamabad MoU and broader regional diplomacy.
No detailed list of agreements has yet been announced. Any formal outcomes are expected after Pezeshkian’s meetings with Pakistan’s civilian leadership.
