Pakistan bus crash

Pakistan bus crash investigators are looking into the cause of a deadly accident in southwestern Pakistan after an overcrowded passenger bus plunged into a rocky ravine, killing at least 40 people and injuring eight others.

The accident took place in the Dhana Sar area, near the border between Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials said the bus lost control before falling from the highway into a deep ravine. Rescue teams were sent to the scene, but the mountainous terrain made the operation difficult.

Pakistan Bus Crash Raises Concerns Over Road Safety

According to officials cited by Al Jazeera and AP, the overcrowded passenger bus was carrying people from another vehicle that had broken down. This left the bus carrying more passengers than usual before the crash occurred.

Rescue workers used cutters and machinery to recover bodies and pull injured passengers from the wreckage. The injured were shifted for medical treatment, while authorities worked to identify those who died in the Balochistan bus accident.

Police have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the crash. Initial reports pointed to speeding and overcrowding as possible factors, although officials have not issued a final finding.

Deadly Dhana Sar Ravine Accident

The Dhana Sar ravine crash has again highlighted Pakistan road safety concerns, especially on mountain routes where narrow roads, reckless driving, poor enforcement and overloaded vehicles often increase the risk of fatal accidents.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed sorrow over the loss of life and offered condolences to the families of the victims. Authorities said rescue and identification work continued after the crash.
