Pakistan Vietnam Trade: On May 14, 2026, Pakistan and Vietnam engaged in discussions to establish a preferential trade agreement (PTA) aimed at reducing tariffs on more than 100 product lines to zero. The discussions took place during a visit by Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan to the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

Ambassador Tuan emphasized the strategic importance of Karachi Port in connecting regional markets, especially amid global supply chain disruptions caused by Middle East tensions. He highlighted Karachi’s potential to become a significant trade and logistics hub.

Bilateral trade between Pakistan and Vietnam currently stands at approximately $850 million, a figure both countries see as falling short of its potential. The ambassador expressed optimism about the ongoing negotiations, noting positive progress.

In a bid to further strengthen economic ties, Ambassador Tuan invited the KCCI to send a high-powered trade delegation to Vietnam. This delegation would explore investment opportunities, joint ventures, and commercial partnerships.
