PCB Announces Revised Schedule for PSL 11 Amid Austerity Measures

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a revised schedule for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to commence on March 26, 2026. In response to government-imposed austerity measures, the tournament will proceed without spectators, focusing on energy conservation.

In a strategic move, the number of host cities has been reduced from six to two, with all matches to be held exclusively in Lahore and Karachi. This decision supports national efforts to conserve resources, with each city hosting 22 of the 44 matches over a span of 39 days.

The opening match between the Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars will take place as initially planned. Lahore is set to host the Eliminators and the final, while the Qualifier will occur in Karachi. Enhanced broadcast features will ensure a superior viewing experience for fans watching from home.

Officials estimate that limiting the tournament to two cities will significantly reduce operational costs, transport logistics, and utility overheads. The absence of in-person spectators is expected to alleviate the energy demands normally associated with daily travel for thousands of fans and staff.

Despite the challenges, the PCB is committed to delivering high-quality cricket and maintaining the PSL’s status as a symbol of Pakistan’s sporting excellence. The league’s innovative coverage is anticipated to draw a large audience, making this edition one of the most watched.
