Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to undertake a significant official visit to China from May 23 to May 26. This announcement was made by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during the launch of the IBI Pakistan Digital Economy Headquarters in Islamabad, marking a pivotal moment in the Pakistan-China relationship.

The visit aims to strengthen commercial ties through a vibrant business-to-business forum. Dar emphasized the enduring partnership between Pakistan and China, highlighting the transition from traditional infrastructure projects to digital collaboration.

The launch of the IBI headquarters is seen as a transformative milestone in the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Partnership. Dar noted that the focus is shifting from physical infrastructure, such as the Karakoram Highway and CPEC energy projects, to intelligent infrastructure, AI, ICT, and digital connectivity.

Dar articulated the vision of moving from roads to networks, stating, “We are building a digital Silk Road today, beginning with the launch of the IBI headquarters in Islamabad.” The visit is expected to further enhance digital and commercial ties, setting the stage for future collaborations.
