On May 17, 2026, a significant educational initiative was announced, offering free higher education opportunities to 500 Bangladeshi students at various universities in Pakistan. This initiative, part of the Bangladesh-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor, was unveiled at the Bangladesh-Pakistan Education Expo held at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).
The event, inaugurated by Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider and SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. AM Sarwaruddin Chowdhury, saw participation from representatives of 22 leading Pakistani universities. During the expo, SUST signed a Memorandum of Understanding with one Pakistani university and a Memorandum of Interest with another, marking a new chapter in educational cooperation between the two nations.
High Commissioner Imran Haider emphasized the positive reception of the initiative among students and academics, highlighting its potential to enhance educational and cultural ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan. He noted that this program would facilitate a platform for knowledge and cultural exchange, benefiting both countries.
The SUST Vice-Chancellor noted the importance of international cooperation in higher education and research in today’s globalized world. He expressed optimism that such initiatives would open new opportunities for Bangladeshi students on the global stage, fostering greater collaboration and understanding.
