The Balochistan Home Department confirmed that a vehicle-borne suicide bomber attacked the shuttle train service. The Baloch Liberation Army, a banned terrorist organization, claimed responsibility for the attack. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the act as cowardly and reiterated the nation’s resilience against terrorism.

Television footage depicted a scene of chaos, with rescue workers and local residents searching for survivors amidst the wreckage of a mangled train carriage. The explosion caused significant damage to train compartments, nearby vehicles, and surrounding houses, leaving many in panic and grief.

The blast’s impact shattered windows and destroyed parked vehicles, while residents described the terrifying moments following the explosion. Emergency services were activated immediately, with hospitals across Quetta declaring a medical emergency to treat the influx of casualties.

Authorities established a central control room to coordinate rescue efforts, while security forces cordoned off the area for investigation. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti held a high-level meeting to assess the security situation and vowed to bring those responsible to justice.

The attack underscores the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, with recent intelligence reports warning of further threats. As investigations continue, the government remains committed to combating terrorism and supporting affected families.
