The Seductive Magic of Durgapuja

Recognised by UNESCO in 2021 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Durga Puja is far more than just a celebration for me. It is a profound convergence where vibrant colours merge with raw emotion, passion, sensuality, spirituality, and sheer joy. A pandal is never merely a temporary structure; it is a sacred space where you surrender entirely—from your deepest thoughts to your most indulgent taste buds. The true spark of this global festival, now extending far beyond the Indian subcontinent, begins in the quiet lanes of artisan hubs like Kumartuli in North Kolkata, where artisans lovingly craft the idols of Maa Durga. Today, this tradition has transcended geographical boundaries, continuing to grace new legends and build enduring legacies.
